I chose to do my cover like this because I wanted to show that we are free. As it is illustrated in the picture, the mockingbird has his wings open, he is flying to the horizon and he wants to fly away and be free. The mockingbirds, which shows a heart of the story, which is that it's a sin to kill a Mockingbird, also in the story a mockingbird represents innocence and when the birds fly away it’s because they want to go to other places, which is related to innocence, because when you lose it, you want to go to other places and try new things. The circle represents the shape of the sun, and I put it on the cover because once Jem said that in the morning everything it going to be better and the sun represents the morning.

Journal Entry
Dear journal,
Scout and I went to see Tom Robinsons trial today. We sat on the colored seats, were Negroes sit. Mayella Ewell told the judges everything she knew, and what Tom Robinson did to her. I felt like she wasn’t telling the truth, and so did the other ones and that is why Atticus was asking so many questons. Tom Robinsons side of the story was more convincing. I didn’t like the part in which Mayella started crying, she is acting like a baby. When we went home for supper I didn’t get why Calpurnia was blue in the face at me for taking Scout to the jury. Scout should go to the trials to learn about whats going on and to do what the others young ladied in Maycomb do, now I get Aunt Alexandras point.
Bob Ewell should be skin…alive for spitting Atticus in his face. I don’t have any quarrels with the Ewells, but I consider that sin. When I heard of that, Scout said that Atticus could perfectly shot Bob Ewell with a gun, he was a master in old times.. but I didn’t think it that way. Atticus is totally educated and he is a gentelmen, he wont do that. I remember when he didn’t want to shot the dog, if he didn’t want to kill an animal,he would not want to shot a human being.
I knew that the jury had convicted Tom even before the veredict was read, because Atticus told me once that when a suspect is found guilty, the jury does not look at the convict. I think the jury needs more evidence to say that Tom is guilty. I beileve that he is not, because I think that Mayella is making this up to ask for attention. When atticus tasked her about her friends she said that Atticus was making fun of her and that was clear evidence that Mayella does not have any friends.
Sincerely yours,
Jem Finch

Differences between Lord of the Flies book & movie.
William Golding’s Lord of the Flies book has a plenty of differences compared to Harry Hook’s movie of Lord of the Flies. In the movie the boys are no grownups, the boys are not British and Simon does not meet the lord of the flies.
The first point to compare is that in the movie there was a grown up, but there wasn’t one on the book. “Aren’t there any grownups at all?” “I don’t think so” (8) The fact that there was a grown up on the movie affects the book, because one of the major issues when the boys reached the island was that they were happy, especially Jack and the choir, that /because they didn’t have a grownup to tell them what to do or not and also it was developed throughout the book. This difference takes away some of the relevant parts of the book; the fact that they didn’t have a grownup was the one who sometimes caused problems between the boys.
The second point is that on the book the boys were British, but in the movie the boys were American. “I should have thought that a pack of British boys-you’re all British, aren’t you?-would have been able to put up a better show than that-I mean-”(202) The fact that the boys were not British affects the book, because on the novel the boys are influenced by British manners and when they do things they think “we are British, we cannot do anything wrong” and in the movie the boys are American and they see things from a different perspective. Also the way British people see the World War 2, differs from the American view.
The third point to compare is that Simon didn’t meet the Lord of the Flies in the movie, but he did on the book. “‘-Or else’ said the Lord of the Flies, ‘we shall do you? See? Jack and Roger and Maurice and Robert and Bill and Piggy and Ralph. Do you? See?’ Simon was inside the mouth. He fell down and lost consciousness” (144) The fact that Simon didn’t meet the Lord of the Flies it’s a very important different, because in the movie he didn’t represent Jesus’ figure, and the Lord of the Flies didn’t represent God. The movie didn’t have any religious connection, as the book did. When Simon met the Lord of the Flies, he talks to him and tells him that Simon is going to die, and that has a connection with Jesus because he knew he was going to be killed. Although Jesus knew when he was going to be killed, Simon didn’t.
William Golding’s Lord of the Flies book and Harry Hook’s movie of Lord of the Flies share the same name, but not the same plot. Even though they differ drastically at points, they both display the storyline clearly. Although, the movie had more action and actually showed images, the book is more enjoyable. In every case of book and then movie, almost everyone prefers the movie rather than the book, but this time the book is a better option.

You Can’t Have It All
But you can have your little sister asking to put her favourite channel at 6 am because she accidentally woke up like your friend in kindergarten wanting to borrow your favourite toy.
You can have your 12-year-old cousin messing up every single thing in your room.
You can have your dog asking you for food, while he is chewing his favourite toy and you can have your cat looking at your dog from the inside with an evil face expression.
You can have your mom telling you over and over to clean your room like your favourite song on your iPod, the one you listen over and over again without getting bored.
You can have Beethoven waking you up every morning when you are at your aunt’s house. You can have your life planned, but you know that not everything is going to happen as you want thing to happen, you have to live it as it is going on.
You can have a fear, death, but you know that one day will happen and when that day comes for your loved ones, just accept it, hard task, but you got to be strong.
You can have your dad dancing at a party, making ridiculous, but the only thing that matters to him is to dance and have fun. You can have your little sister beautiful drawing she made for you and then realizing that she didn’t paint only the sheet of paper she also painted the pink walls of your bedroom.
You can have a dream, a dream you can accomplish, that depends on your own decisions; every day work harder and anything you can do… do it, but remember something, never exceed your limitations.
You can have thousands of friends, but there will be only a few that will be by your side in your good and bad times no matter what, and those are what people often call; true friends.
You can have many songs you like, but you know there is one in between all of them that makes you feel different, special, and extraordinary and makes you feel butterflies on your stomach, the one you listen over and over again, the one you listen in every occasion of the day, that one.
You can have souvenirs from a lot of countries and say you visit all of them, but you know is not true and that you said that just to pretend you are interesting, you can’t have it all, but there is this, and you should appreciate what you have and not want more than you can have, everything has to be valued.

Soft Mint- Benjamin Moore 2041-60
by Sofia Lopez
The smell of food,
Smelt everywhere,
Praised throughout the house,
Lunchtime had arrived
Whole family was gathered
Delighting in the delicious food,
Children’s laughter could be heard everywhere,
Everyone was having a great time
A sunny day
Where heat penetrates the entire body
The family decided to go to the beach
All gathered in the car
Singing love songs,
As they usually do when they go in the car,
Suddenly everything went dark
The sound of people running
That was the only thing she could hardly hear,
Her heart beat with less force each time,
And little by little she stopped breathing
The boys and his dad returned home,
Nothing was the same,
An empty seat on the table,
An empty space on their hearts,
Two red lines appeared on the bathroom,
That was impossible
Two years ago
He received terrific news,
He wouldn’t be able to be dad again...
So then, how was his wife pregnant again?
That only meant one thing
His sweet,
Gorgeous,
Lovely,
Splendid,
And handsome wife,
Cheated on him
How was this possible?
And what if these are only assumptions?
But wait,
He remembered something
That night,
Not long ago,
His wife arrived really late
She looked nervous,
Confused,
But no word was said
This will be forgotten
He’ll never know what really happened,
Will have been his fault?
"I do not think so"
Deplorable,
He stopped breathing.

Book Review
Publisher: Harper Trophy
Genre: Fantasy
Where I got it: My mom brought me the seven books of The Chronicles of Narnia from New York.
One sentence summary: The four Pevensie children from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe are called back to Narnia when Caspian, the nephew of the evil usurping ruler, sides with the true Narnians to oppose him.
First sentence of the book: Once there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, and it has been told in another book called The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe how they had a remarkable adventure.
First Chapter Review: Prince Caspian begins with the four Pevensie children at the station waiting for the train that would take them to school for the year. Before the train gets to them, they begin to feel the pull of magic on them, and they find themselves in a place they assume to be Narnia. However, they are on an island and they cannot find anything that they recognize from their first trip. When they go to explore the nearby ruins, they discover that they are in the remains of what had once been the castle of Cair Paravel.
Verdict: This is an engaging and interesting book, and it’s one of my favourites from The Chronicles of Narnia and I would read it again and again.
Cover Comments: Well, in the cover you can see that is illustrated Prince Caspian with a sword, you can see Aslan and on the back part you can see four teenagers with swords and they seem to be fighting-you can assume that they are the Pevensies.

We need an assembly
By Sofia Lopez
An assembly,
The place looked so different
Green roof,
Golden reflections,
Moved impatiently,
Feel into a strange mood,
A chief,
A decision,
Step by step,
Faced the place of assembly,
Filled quickly,
Including the littluns,
We need an assembly,
No one said anything,
We need an assembly,
Not for fun,
Not for laughing,
Not for making jokes,
For cleverness
Everybody enjoys,
Enjoys speaking,
Being together,
We decide things
Simple words
Were said,
I am speaking,
And lifted the conch
There’s another thing,
There’s no water,
We need an assembly,
People drink from the river,
Shells are dry
The place of assembly,
The time of assembly,
They never had an assembly as late before,
There’s something to fix,
We need an assembly.

Where I am From
By Sofia Lopez
I am from the south, from conaproles products and Sunday family dinner,
I am from the frosty house in winter,
And form the ardent house in summer,
From the neighborhoods shop,
And from an unknown area
I am from the lemon tree in my grandparent’s backyard,
From the tall plant that’s impossible to reach without daddy’s help
From everyday fights with my lousy cousin,
From the Alvarez family tree,
From Delmiro and Clarisa’s branch,
From the strangest family in the world,
But from the coolest one
I am from the everyday summer fights,
From the disagreement of what to eat,
From the every night mom and dad drinks
From “Look but not touch”,
And from “Don’t touch grandmas wine glass collection”
I am from “What you believe in is okay”,
And from “We accept any religion here”
I am from Montevideo, Uruguay,
From a Spanish branch,
From Centenarios’s meat and bizcochos
From the family pictures in the colorful box,
Hidden in mommy’s room,
From my spoiled cousins pictures on top of the shelf,
And from mine on the bottom,
From the “I don’t care where my pictures are”,
And from “Mine are better”
From the soccer games every Sunday night,
From the loud voices screaming when our team scored,
And from my mom’s sweet voice telling them to lower their voice.
I am from those moments,
A leaf in the family tree,
That will never change its color,
That will never drop off.

What I believe
Sofia Lopez
I believe friends can change you,
but I am still the same.
but I am still the same.
I believe money doesn’t buy happiness,
but I am not giving you my iPod.
but I am not giving you my iPod.
I believe life is too short to be worrying about love.
I believe that if your parents lie to you,
it’s because they love you.
it’s because they love you.
I believe music can change you.
I believe we all have a kid inside,
even if you are adults.
even if you are adults.
I believe everyone has a special gift.
I believe in myself.
I believe in waiting for things to come by their own,
and not by force,
but I am not patient.
and not by force,
but I am not patient.
I believe in making right choices makes you a better person.
I believe that you learn from your own mistakes.
I believe you have to know someone before judging.
I believe dreams come true,
that’s why I keep sleeping.
that’s why I keep sleeping.
I believe inn irony.
I believe we all should take risks,
but I am not going to the top of that sky crawler with you.
but I am not going to the top of that sky crawler with you.
I believe traffic puts you in a very bad mood.
I believe siblings are the only friends that life is going to keep for you.
Life has a lot of surprises,
you never know what’s next,
that’s why,
I believe you should live your life like if it’s no tomorrow.
you never know what’s next,
that’s why,
I believe you should live your life like if it’s no tomorrow.

A very big impact in the world.
A long time ago african slaves were sent to the americas for work. After a couple of years the africans assimilated into americans society. In that time many babies were born and more slaves were sent. Those babies were callled "Afro-Americans". They were half american, half africans.
Hundreds of years later in the United States of America, with a lot of dissension, a new president was elected. This president is afro-american and a lot of people is againts having a black president. At first he was ilionized, because it made a great impact in the world. I am not from the United States, but I consider him a very good president and he is very meticulous in all aspects. I thought that the U.S. having a black president could cause World War lll, but I was wrong.

A perfect plan
Everything was going perfect. The state of anarchy in this country helped a lot. Nobody care about anything or anyone. We were ready to come in. Many people helped us. The sun was getting down; everything was going as we planned. France was going ours in a couple of minutes. But there’s one thing we didn’t prevent.
I joined the Germans conspiracy to attack France. When we got there, we got a surprise. One of our helpers said everything and the police was waiting for us. I spontaneously started running for not to get apprehend, but I failed. They got me. I was sent to a cell with others. The captain could escape. As he told us, he will be rescuing us. We don’t know how, but we trust him. Finally our plan was ruined, but we tried and we are going to be back… I promise!
